Rumors have spread saying that it may be possible that Coolidge can give rights to Black Americans. He has already expressed remorse for these citizens and even said:

"[Black] rights are just as sacred as those of any other citizen"

Coolidge rarely takes the lead on civil rights but often expressed a disgust for the Ku Klux Klan.

In the presidential election of the year before, his running mate Charles Dawes, often attacked the Klan but Coolidge avoided the subject.

Other reporters took note of the fact that had maintained a relatively low profile during the Harding administration; many had even expected him to be replaced on the ballot in 1924.

Considering this, it could be possible that his beliefs for civil rights may never be heard.
