Have you ever cut yourself, and are you tired of wrapping wounds and spending money on gauze and wraps? Well band aids are fast and easy to apply. The band aid is designed to protect the injury by keeping it clean and protected from dirt and bacteria. The band aid was created in 1920 by Earle Dickson. Dickson created the band aid for his wife who would frequently cut and burn herself while cooking in the kitchen.

The development was first made when Dickson took a segment of surgical adhesive that was around 18" long and 3" wide, and laid a 18" long piece of cloth longwise down the center. He secured it with crinoline texture and moved it up. So when Josephine cut herself in the kitchen, she could take Earle's creation, unroll a bit and cut it straight over, giving her an instant wrap with bandage in the center and glue mortar on the two sides. It was anything but difficult to use without anyone else, it remained on, and it ensured her cut fingers while they recuperated.
Earle then told his manager, the Cotton Mill chief, who told organization president James Wood Johnson, one of the three siblings who had established Johnson and Johnson in 1886. James, a specialist, perceived the inventiveness and splendid straightforwardness of Earle's creation, and Johnson and Johnson put it available in 1921 with the name BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages.
